The Science Experiment

I had so much fun creating this one! In most instances my work is heavy with emotion - even though the emotions/story, and the story behind the story, is not always obvious to the viewer. These last few months have felt like we have all been in the middle of somebody's twisted science experiment and I just wanted to create something that was colourful and quirky... Something to lift my spirits (and hopefully yours too, dear viewer). Besides which, I have been wanting to use these glass orbs (vintage glass buoys) for years!

My collection of small vintage glass buoys. Photographing these were a lot harder than it seemed as it picked up the reflection of my whole studio (which is thankfully mostly painted all white). It took quite a bit of reworking the orb in Photoshop to minimize the reflection, but to still maintain roundness and catch lights.
